Civil Service Fast Stream Graduate Development Programme 2025

UPDATE FRIDAY 5th APRIL: UNFORTUNATELY THIS EVENT HAS NOW BEEN CANCELLED – IT MAY BE RE-SCHEDULED FOR LATER IN THE YEAR

When: Wednesday 10 April 2024

Time: 12.30 pm – 1.30pm

Where: Online via Teams

This short Teams event is arranged by the FDA trade union and Glasgow Caledonian University in partnership with the Civil Service Fast Stream, and it is open to all, including students from other universities as guests.  You will hear speakers who are currently on the CS Fast Stream and other graduate entry Civil Service programmes as well as Deri Bevan, the Head of Organising and Learning for the FDA union. They will explain what the fast stream is, and why it presents an opportunity for all graduates whatever your economic or cultural background.

If you wish to, you will be able to sign up to be mentored by a current civil servant and you will find out about skills sessions to help you with navigating the application process.

You will also be able to access skills events to help you understand Civil Service processes. This event, mentoring and skills sessions are all FREE ( funded by the FDA trade union).

The Public Sector Development and Mentoring Scheme (PSDMS) is still open with a host of outstanding mentors waiting to support you. The scheme offers you access to a remote mentor who is currently on the Civil Service Fast Stream, Tax Specialist Programme, or other schemes. The mentor will be able to advise you what benefits Civil Service roles and schemes offer and why this is something that could be a route for you. Mentoring will be conducted remotely and at a frequency that you can agree beforehand. The matches will be overseen by the University and the FDA. The scheme operated last year and a number of GCU students who were mentored have got to the final stages (now running) of the Tax Specialist Programme 2024 application process. You can find out more about it by clicking here.
