2018 Search For A Star & Sumo Digital Rising Star challenges

Designed by leading studios to mimic a standard games industry recruitment process, we’re inviting programming, 3D art, animation and VFX students to show off your skills. You’ll create impressive games and polished, game-ready assets, all to impress and win job & internship interviews with top UK studios who want to nurture your talents.

Search for a Star & Sumo Digital Rising Star is a student game development challenge run by leading games industry recruitment agency, Aardvark Swift, along with top UK studios. Students at every year of university education are invited to compete, with Search for a Star designed for students in their final year or on Masters courses, and Sumo Digital Rising Star for students who aren’t yet in their final year.

Previous finalists graduated into jobs with studios including Playground Games, Sumo Digital, nDreams, BossAlien Frontier Developments, Skymoons Interactive, Sony Interactive and Coatsink!

  • Winners receive a job interview with a leading game development studio;
  • Build your portfolio and improve skills by receiving personalised feedback from professionals in your field from every stage of the challenge;
  • Win big prizes donated by the industry! Last year’s loot hoard included state of the art AMD graphics cards and Allegorithmic art software licenses;
  • Develop a games project using a real brief and have your work showcased in front of some of the UK’s leading games studios;
