07/04/2017

This is a great opportunity to work on this exciting new project.

The University is currently developing a Common Good Award to promote, recognise and reward students who have gained the four Common Good Attributes and made a positive difference to the communities that we serve.

We are seeking to appoint an intern to work with Common Good Award team between June and August 2017 for 3 days per week over 10 weeks.

The role of the Common Good Award Intern will be to promote and raise awareness of the Common Good Award at GCU by engaging with the student body and GCU professional service departments to support the development of a range of materials including the website, literature, digital displays and social media campaigns.

This process will also include highlighting the Common Good Attributes already being developed by our students, in addition to documenting opportunities for students to participate in co- and extra-curricular activities linked to the Common Good mission.

Accountabilities/responsibilities of the role:

  • Work closely with the manager of The Work Experience Hub to develop processes and materials to support the Common Good Award.
  • Engage with the student body and GCU professional service departments to develop a range of materials to promote the Common Good Award, including the website, literature, digital displays and social media campaigns.
  • Collate examples of the impact of student involvement in work and voluntary roles that contribute to the common good, e.g. through ‘digital stories’, case studies, short video clips etc.
  • Liaise with appropriate GCU departments to inform the development of the Common Good Award, including identifying any additional co and extra-curricular activities that may be appropriate for inclusion in the Award.
  • Contribute to the updating of the Common Good ‘opportunities’ page, signposting students to co- and extra-curricular activities that support the development of Common Good Attributes.
  • Undertake desk-based research to underpin the project.
  • Any other tasks appropriate to the post.
