Training scholarships available for language teachers

The British Council are about to invite applications from students who are passionate about training to teach French, German or Spanish, and who want to inspire young minds. You could receive a languages scholarship of £27,500 to support you during your teacher training year, and the scholarship provides the most gifted languages graduates with the chance to start an exciting career in teaching.

You will join a community of like-minded enthusiasts with whom you can share ideas and be inspired. In addition to the financial support, you will receive access to a range of professional development resources, CPD opportunities and mentor support.

Am I eligible?
Before applying, you’ll need to establish if you’re eligible:

•you should have a minimum of a 2:1, or be predicated to achieve this; candidates with a 2:2, (or predicated) may also be considered if you can demonstrate significant knowledge

•or have a relevant PhD or Master’s degree or recognised equivalent

•secured a training place on an eligible non- salaried languages teacher training course in England for the 2017/18 academic year by September 2017

•met the bursary eligibility criteria

How do I apply?
Aspiring scholars apply directly through the British Council for a languages scholarship. A separate application will need to be made for securing a place with your preferred school or university.
