Social Sciences Career Conference

The BA Social Science degree programme is hosting its first ever Careers Conference, in collaboration with GCU Careers.

When: Wednesday, 9th of December
Where: Centre for Executive Education (CEE 6 and 7)
Time: 9:45am – 1:00pm

The BA Social Science degree programme is hosting its first ever Careers Conference. Aimed at Levels 3 and 4 students, the event will bring together employers and alumni who will share with students their experiences and tips on graduate employment options for Social Science undergraduates.

Students will have the opportunity to meet with employers from different sectors of employment (the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations, local FE colleges, Audit Scotland, Police Scotland, ScotGrad, the Citizen’s Advice Bureau) in a range of formats: plenary talk, speed dating, workshops and informally over refreshments.

Students will be able to find out what graduates in Social Sciences from GCU are doing now, how they can develop their professional online presence and how employers use social media in recruitment. The event will also be an excellent occasion for students to discover why many employers are keen to recruit Social Science graduates.  For students who would be interested in undertaking postgraduate study there will also be an opportunity to find out how this might benefit them and how to apply.

This Conference is the result of a close collaboration between GCU Careers and Dr Emmanuelle Tulle, and is supported by the Department of Social Science, Media and Journalism.

The Conference will take place on Wednesday 9th December 9.45-1pm
