CV Workshop

When: Thursday, 5th of November
Where: Events Space 1, Level 0, Saltire Centre
Time: 15:00-16:00

Bring a paper copy of your CV and be prepared to share! Compare and contrast different styles and formats and find out what UK employers are really looking for in CVs.                       

Discover how you can improve and tailor your CV to impress employers and get you noticed!

By the end of the session you will have shared and learned about:

  • Different styles and structures for CVs
  • Tailoring and targeting your CV
  • Promoting your skills, experience and achievements
  • The language that will get employers’ attention
  • Support offered by the careers team

Interview Skills

When: Thursday, 12th of November
Where: Events Space 1, Level 0, Saltire Centre
Time: 15:00-16:00

Learn how to impress at interviews and be really prepared for the different styles of questions that you might be asked. This session will help you to:

  • Develop active listening skills
  • Identify typical interview questions
  • Be confident when answering competency based question
  • Learn useful interview hints and tips
  • Know how to arrange a practice interview with a careers adviser at GCU

New to GCU Careers

When: Thursday, 19th of November
Where: Events Space 1, Level 0, Saltire Centre
Time: 15:00-16:00

A session to help you understand the support that the GCU Careers can offer you from early career planning to writing effective CVs for part-time jobs, internships and graduate opportunities in the UK and globally.


GoinGlobal

When: Tuesday, 26th of November
Where: Events Space 1, Level 0, Saltire Centre
Time: 15:00-16:00

Learn about this excellent resource for all GCU students and recent graduates. GCU Careers subscribes to GoinGlobal and students can use this FREE of charge. Packed full of advice for finding information and jobs at home or abroad. An opportunity to find out the key information that will help you to ‘go global’!

By the end of this session you will know how to:

  • Search for global opportunities – graduate and internships
  • Find out key information for applications through extensive Country Profiles
  • Research company information
  • Get support from the careers team
