Mathematics teacher training scholarships worth £25,000 are now available

If you are thinking about training to be a Mathematics teacher, now is the ideal time to apply, as a tax free grant of £25,000 is available for training (England only).

You can apply for the Scholarship if you:

  • Have or expect to achieve a First, 2:1 or postgraduate degree (Masters/PhD) in a subject with a strong mathematical content (if you have a 2:2 you may also be eligible if you bring significant relevant experience), OR
  • Have completed or will complete a Maths Subject Enhancement Course (SKE) prior to September 2014 OR
  • Have a non-mathematical degree with extensive mathematical professional experience
  • Have accepted a place on, or are applying for, unsalaried secondary mathematics initial teacher training in England
  • Qualify as a home student and be committed to teaching in England

When should you apply?

There will be a series of application deadlines throughout the year:2nd December 2013; 20th January 2014; 3rd march 2014; 28th April 2014; 16th June 2014; 28th July 2014.

You can apply before or after you have secured your place on a teacher training course, but it’s recommended that you submit your application as soon as possible. To find out more visit the teacher scholarships website.
