International students – how to prepare for the Graduate Recruitment Fair at the SECC

09/10/2012

We hope that all our international students are settling in to their new studies at GCU. The Careers Service is here to help and support you and we want to make sure that you know about the Scottish Graduate Fair, a major graduate recruitment event being held here in Glasgow next week.

An important part of career development planning is the opportunity to meet with employers to find out about graduate opportunities and recruitment processes, and you can do this at the fair that will be held at the Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre in Glasgow on Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 October 2012.

Prepare for the Fair

Careers Fairs in the UK may be run differently than in your home country. To help you make the most of the Scottish Graduate Fair, we are organising a ‘Prepare for the Fair’ information session on Monday 15 October 4.30 – 5.15 in the Careers Centre, M015 George Moore building.

Find out how to make the right impression! You will also be able to pick up your own copy of the UK graduate employers directory. This is the first in a series of information events for international students, so book your place here (you will have to register on the page if you have not already done so).

The Scottish Graduate Fair

This is an extremely important date in the graduate recruitment season. It is the biggest graduate, postgraduate and internship recruitment event in Scotland attracting approximately 90 graduate employers and postgraduate recruiters. Some employers will have definite vacancies, while other professional organisations will be attending the fair to represent professional bodies in different sectors.

You may also get the chance to talk informally to recent graduates who are often on the stands and find out from them directly about graduate programmes and recruitment processes.
