BBC Scotland News and Current Affairs Placement, Glasgow


The News & Current Affairs Department at the BBC is offering a 1-4 week placement for September 2011. The department gathers and produces News, Politics and Current Affairs for broadcast in Scotland. Their programmes and material are broadcast on BBC Scotland television, Radio Scotland, within National News programmes, Ceefax and BBCi.

Depending on your interests they’ll aim to either give you a flavour of the department across your time with them or base you with one of the programme teams to experience being part of a busy newsroom meeting hourly or daily deadlines.

They are looking for enthusiastic applicants who are interested in the news, politics or current affairs of Scotland. Good interpersonal skills are essential as well as a proactive and motivated attitude to work. You should work well within a team and have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office software & researching using the Internet.

An awareness of both BBC Scotland’s and News & Current Affairs’ output is desirable. Experience in radio, web production, writing or short factual film-making would be beneficial.
