Skills for Working and Collaborating with Industry for Young Scientists

Date: 30 March 2011 Time: 5.45pm – 8.30pm

Venue: Yudowitz Seminar Room, Wolfson Medical School Building, University of Glasgow

Many young scientists experience a culture shock when making the initial step from academia into an industrial laboratory and must quickly learn to operate within a very different environment, one where personal working practices can have company-wide consequences. Examples of practices not traditionally associated with academic laboratories, but of immense importance in an industrial laboratory, include Good Laboratory and Manufacturing Practice and other regulatory protocols.

Nexxus invites young scientists considering a move into industry to hear from industry experienced laboratory professionals about their experiences in running industrial laboratories, the skills expected from young scientists in this environment and the relevance and importance of the different working practices which must be adopted there.

Speakers
